Has anyone done any travel nursing? I was wondering which agencies were the best to work for and why?

I haven't done any travel nursing, but I know there is a site where you can fill out ONE application and it goes to many different agencies. Saves a bunch of time! I think it is www.mynursejob.com

I think you can search online for traveling nurses agencies. Sometimes the papers may feature international nurse ads, or nursing agencies looking for nurses to travel.

I have been considering Nursefinders. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about working with them?

My understanding about NF (and this is all second hand) is that they are big in Texas and California but mostly have per diem work. I don't think they've been doing travel very long and they are very large so you may get the "big company" experience..

Yes, I've done some traveling and I used American Mobile and I wouldn't suggest them to you. During my traveling experience with them, I heard so many nurses speak so badly about them and then I start to see what they were talking about because I was mistreated.

I think they are definitely more bureaucratic than most but that's cause they're the biggest

Nurse Finders is a great company. Just remember it is an agency. You may have a full schedual for a week and the next week you may not be called to work. They are a good company for supplemental income.

Re: DonnaGJ (Post 475)
Our nation is suffering from a major lack of available nursing care these days. Given the unfortunate under-staffing at numerous institutions, they are utilizing another approach to hiring nursing professionals. There are an increased number of openings for nurses who are willing to travel as part of their employment arrangements and more nurses are signing on for that. They earn more than in a traditional nursing position and have the additional advantage of a welcome change of scene.
