I'm thinking of becoming a nurse and wondering how hard nursing school is compared to other degrees. Any feedback?

It isn't easy and it's getting a lot harder. All I can say is don't go into it for the money. There are a lot of easier ways to make money, BUT there are rewards that just aren't tangible, plus you'll always have a job. The really GREAT thing about nursing that isn't true of any other profession (at least none that I can think of), is that if you don't like the area you're practicing in, you can move onto something else ... and you can do that really really quickly!

I was always pretty smart in school and I struggled with biochem. I found that course to be the straw that almost broke the camel's back. Drawing newly formed molecules' structure drove me batty and I simply could not figure out a use for it post graduation. Of course, after I graduated they changed the course completely!

I didn't much like biochem either. But the worst for me was critical care nursing. I simply could not understand all the pre-load and after-load stuff and really felt awful. My instructor was some 20+ year veteran of the ICU and damned if she didn't teach everything you never needed to know! How strange was it then that I ended up on a critical care unit for my first nursing gig? It bug me that they "teach to the NCLEX" and not the real life nursing. It bugs me too that that NCLEX is nothing like real nursing. Seriously, the way they test us to obtain licensure needs reevaluated. I know they change the test every couple of years, but it isn't enough.

I thought a few classes of just LPN school were hard like A&P and Nutrition. I HATED those classes and I thnk peds? I can't remember, but we had to hve a 86% to pass our classes so it didn't leave alot of room for screw ups. ALSO, the money situaton at home was NOT pleasent at all, my huband was working in the concrete profession and it got to be wnter time and time for him to take a lay off and that was horrible bc you DON'T have time to work all the time.
If you get into the nursing profession you really hav to learn how to takepeople with a grain of salt an you have to care and learn to bite your lip

Wearing the uniform of a nurse was a dream I cherished since childhood.
Little did I realize that my dream would come true after completion of
studies from American College of Nursing. Not only does the San Francisco
Bay area college provides the best of education, but also helps makes
learning a fun.

To be quite honest I feel its very difficult, but if you have a passion for the profession you are perfectly capable. Each Nurse brings their own unique way of helping people to the table. All I can tell you for sure it is continuous dedication even after school, but it can be very rewarding as well. Good luck in researching your career.

Nursing school is very hard. Your grades and your academic performance are important. But so are your attitude and life-experiences. There are plenty of students out there with 4.0 GPA's who would make lousy nurses! If you didn't do well in school, you made need to brush up on some skills before you attempt nursing school. Getting into nursing school is competitive these days because of a high number of applicants all vying for a limited number of spots. If you're considering nursing, take your education very seriously.

Nursing school is very hard, remember you have quite a bit of things being thrown at you all at once but if you want it bad enough, nothing can get in your way, not even yourself! Depending on what type of degree you are getting it may be harder than other types of nursing degrees.
