I'm a new graduate registered nurse that took the Nclex in May I have been trying to get a hospital job but I am not having any luck. I have a pediatric home health job but would really love to work in the hospital because im not learning anything, but everyone keeps saying that I need 2-3 years of experience. How will I get experience if no one will hire me. I live in South Florida and there are thousands of RN jobs here but they all keep asking for experience. Can anyone give me any tips on what I should do.

I am in exactly the same position except for the fact that I have not yet gotten any experience at all! I have been interviewing at my local hospital and have my fingers crossed that they will hire me! My husband and I would like to relocate, but as you mentioned, all the of the jobs I have researched want experience of at least one year. It's kind of hard to get started isn't it?????

Nurses do not give up hope a good way to get experience is work in a LTC and u will learn alot about people and their meds,dx,tx, and many other things. DO NOT OVER LOOK WHATS IN FRONT OF U. I know of a story where my company hired a new RN,BSN and she could NOT! DO ANYTHING as a lpn I have alot of experience working a subacute care/vent/trach unit with more than 45 patients it is like a small ICU. DON'T OVERLOOK WHAT IS IN FRONT OF U!!!!!! These homes are a good way of learning. And alot of these homes want RN's so they can get a higher rating on their score eg. 1,2,5 star ratings this is more money and business for them. GOOD LUCK

perhaps if you volunteer at one of the hospitals you will make the right connection. Just 4 hrs a week may do it. Good Luck!
