Yes, passed the boards in Oct and still can't find a job. All employers around here want experience. How, how can I get it if I only passed boards in Oct. I started applying for LPN jobs. Any suggestions. I live in Parkersburg WV.

Try to see the Nurse Manager in person somehow and wow them with your personality and confidence. There's something about meeting someone that's always better than just reading an application. ... that's how i got my job. I went to an open house and met with the Nurse Manager of the floor I wanted to work. If there isn't an open house.. then call an schedule a brief meeting with the manager and drop off your resume in person.. its worth a try! That and of course if you have anyone on the inside that always helps. like your friends who graduated the same time and have a job Smile Good Luck! Enjoy it and make the best of your time off while you still have it!!

Try the nursing homes first. That's a good way to get experience. Go to some of the places you did clinicals at. I got my first job at a nursing home I did clinicals at. They hired me as a GPN before I actually took my boards. Also, if you have ever taken care of family members or friends, use them as references. You'd be surprised at how far that gets you. CONGRATS on passing your boards and good luck with your future in nursing.

I'm in the same boat, there are thousands of new grads that are struggling.

This might give you a laugh about the situation though:

This thread seems outdated. I would try LinkedIn. That's how I found my most recent job in nursing. You have to network and send out about 50 applications to get interviews.
You may want to consider a nursing nonsultant position www.howtobecomealegalnurseconsultant.com

Do I call myself a New Grad? I graduated in December 2010, which feels ages ago! I found a doctor who would train me in Medical Aesthetics... can you believe it? Well, my pay is terrrible and I cannot wait to get into the hospital! After building my resume with some quality \"add-ons\", I hope to be more attractive to the Winter 2011/2012 employers. I had a spreadsheet with the various New Grad Programs (and of course a call log) but was so frustrated in my search / website visiting that I decided to make one myself. www.newgradrn.com Hopefully, one stop place for new grad rn program news will be helpful!

Yes, the age-old dilemma of not being able to get the job that you\\\'ve gotten educated for. I understand and feel your pain as I was in the same boat not too long ago.

Although this may be an old thread, I want this info here for now-comers that may also want to know useful tips on discovering work. The above tips of networking, meeting with your Nursing Manager are great.

Please also keep in mind volunteer work may give you a really good boost, in more than one way. In addition, craigslist often has private medical listings that you can take advantage of that may not appear centrally.

Hope this helps!
